Tricia: Journaling is good for the soul!

Journaling Quote

Do you journal? This is something that I’ve done on and off over the years, but haven’t stuck to consistently. In 2015 on my birthday I committed to daily journaling and, of course, giving myself grace for the days that I miss (and yes there have been a few). The days when I am able to journal I absolutely love it. There is something about putting pen to paper and releasing your thoughts, worries, concerns, prayers, etc. that is so freeing. Once I added daily journaling into my routine I’ve noticed a few benefits:

- It provides me with insight

- Helps me in making decisions

- It has become a place where I write out prayers

- I’m discovering new things about myself

- I’m dreaming more

- I’m discovering what’s really important

There are definitely more benefits that I could add, but these are a few that stood out to me. If you’ve never journaled before, I encourage you to try it out. It doesn’t have to be this scary thing. It’s simply you putting your thoughts down on paper. I remember when I had first started, I thought to myself “what in the world am I going to write about everyday?” I of course discovered that there are tons of websites you can visit that can help you out with writing prompts to get your mind going. For example, you could answer the questions:

– If you could live anywhere you wanted, where would it be and why?

– What one thing would you do if you knew you could not fail?

You might find that as you begin to answer some questions, you start to uncover some new things about yourself. What starts off as a simple question to answer may turn into something so much more. If you’ve fallen off the journaling wagon, perhaps today could be the day that you start again. Carve out that time and allow yourself to be free in your writing. With the nicer weather finally here, journaling outdoors is also another beautiful option that could take your writing experience to another level.

Journaling is truly good for the soul. Why not give it a try?

Blessings, Tricia
